Peter began his career at Ganahl Lumber after graduating from the School of Forestry at Oregon State University in 1968. He was thrust into the CEO role five years later at age 27 after the unexpected death of his father. Over the last 51 years, revenues have grown from $3 million to $780 million, and the employee count has grown from 35 to around 1,050. With 11 facilities in Southern California, the company is privately owned by family members, some of the senior management team, and an ESOP. Married for 58 years with 4 adult children and 9 grandchildren, Peter serves on boards of private Catholic schools (K-8 and high schools).
